Broadcast news directors and newspaper editors across the country have voted Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre as The Canadian Press 2023 Newsmaker of the Year.
Poilievre heads into 2024 after months of rising support in the polls, thanks to his team’s social media savvy on everything from housing to the cost-of-living crisis.
Long known for his abrasive style in Parliament, Poilievre somewhat softened his tone and ditched his glasses to redefine himself in a way that pollsters believe is working.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew came in tied for second place.
