Answering a call to disturbance at a city residence Monday has resulted in a St. Thomas police officer being assaulted.
When officers attended the residence, a family dispute had escalated and turned physical.
While police attempted to arrest one of the individuals, an officer was assaulted and suffered minor injuries that required treatment in hospital. They have since been released.
As a result of the disturbance, three individuals have been charged:
A 25-year-old Woodbridge resident has been charged with one count of assault. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date.
A 56-year-old St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date.
A 34-year-old St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count of assault, one count of resisting peace officer and one count of assaulting a peace officer. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance.
