Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on Friday that they have reached an agreement on how 3.1-billion-dollars in federal health-care funding will be spent.
Trudeau says the deal will see Ontario increase access to family doctors, reduce backlogs and increase the health-care workforce.
The announced funding covers three years out of the 8.4-billion-dollar, 10-year agreement the federal government reached last year with the province, part of an overall 198.6 billion dollars for health funding across the country.
The province says 30 million dollars per year will help create more primary care teams, including doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and social workers.
