With Graduation season quickly approaching for our local grad 8 and 12 students, the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin is preparing for the rollout of their annual program.
Get Gorgeous for Grad will return this March and staff are excited to assist those marking such an important milestone shared Melissa Kempf, Communications Manager with YWCA.
It’s a really special program notes Kempf, not only does it make a positive impact on our community members, it’s also a staff favourite.
The hope adds Kempf, is that this program takes a little bit of stress away from the process of graduating.
At this time, the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin is seeking community donations to support the needs of our local students. They’re hoping to secure not only dresses and suits, but formal shoes for both men and women, jewelry, purses and more.
Kempf notes that the struggle they face each year is finding attire to fit young boys.
If you have items you wish to donate in support of Get Gorgeous for Grad, they can be dropped off until the end of March at the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin- 16 Mary Street West. They’ll be happy to help you Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon or from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Kempf says donations have already started rolling in, including support some our local business community.
The YWCA does ask that donations be new or gently used and no more than 5 years old.
Graduating students who attend a school in St. Thomas or Elgin County and are hoping to take part in the program this year can sign up for boutique days beginning in March.
