An important reminder from Southwestern Public Health, especially with March break on the horizon.
Measles is a highly contagious, vaccine-preventable infectious disease and at this time, many countries are experiencing outbreaks.
If you plan to travel, be sure your family is up-to-date with routine vaccines. This should include the MMR vaccine which helps prevent Measles, Mumps, and Rubella.
The health unit also notes that if you have recently travelled and develop any of these symptoms, high fever, runny nose, and sore or swollen eyes – with or without a rash – immediately contact your health care provider.
