A St. Thomas resident is out nearly $15,000 after falling victim to a common scam.
Police say on Friday, the victim was contacted by someone claiming to be from Amazon, informing them that their account had been compromised and it was being passed on to the RCMP for further investigation.
A call from someone claiming to be from the RCMP then lead to a series of transactions, resulting in the $15,000 loss.
The St. Thomas Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch continues to look into the incident.
