A gruesome discovery over the weekend has officials puzzled.
Elgin OPP are investigating animal remains found Saturday on Main Beach in Port Stanley.
Police were contacted around 3:40 p.m. after a headless, partially decomposed animal was found at the water’s edge near Edith Cavell Blvd.
Police advise they have yet to determine whether it is a medium-sized dog or possibly a coyote.
Municipality of Central Elgin staff removed and properly disposed of the animal remains.
