Canadian Agricultural Safety Week runs through Saturday (March 16) and this year farmers, their families and farming communities are encouraged to consider how they plan for farm safety everyday.
Robin Anderson, director of programs and communications with the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association explains this year’s theme.
This year, organizers are focusing on providing practical safety advice and encouraging conversations about farm safety and how it contributes to the success and sustainability of farming operations.
While it may have a romantic side to it, farming is fraught with danger and farm accidents can take a devastating toll.
Anderson advises it is all about managing risks on a daily basis.
She adds this year’s theme, Safety is our Heritage, is the final chapter in a three-year safety campaign.
Anderson points out stress plays an important role when considering farm safety.
She reminds that by working together, we can ensure a safer agricultural sector.
And she notes many tools and resources are available.
She has a closing message for this week.
