A van in a St. Thomas repair shop came out the worse for wear Wednesday.
While up on a hoist at a shop at the east end of Talbot Street, a fire broke out.
According to Chief Fire Prevention Officer Kim Destun with the St. Thomas Fire Department, staff were able to quickly douse the flames with portable extinguishers before the fire was able to spread.
The van unfortunately suffered extensive damage. No injuries were reported.
Destun noted, “This shop had undergone a fire inspection late last year, as part of St. Thomas Fire Department’s Talbot St. inspection blitz and staff were able to confidently extinguish the fire knowing their portable extinguishers where up to date.”
