Aylmer Police continue to investigate an act of fraud reported last Tuesday by a 62-year-old woman.
They say the victim was deceived by a caller pretending to be her son-in-law, claiming he needed $6,350 for bail following a car accident.
A supposed lawyer later contacted her with instructions to transfer the money via a taxi service that he had arranged for pick up. The taxi, confirmed by police to be from a reputable company in St. Thomas, then delivered the cash to an unidentified man in North York.
While speaking with the taxi driver, officers were able to obtain a description of the male.
He is described as East Indian, mid 20s, 5’7-5’9, stocky, short black hair, wearing a black leather jacket.
The investigation is on-going and anyone with information is asked to contact Aylmer Police or Crimestopper.
