West Region OPP were kept busy over the Easter long weekend as they put a focus on seatbelt compliance.
Officers conducted over 3200 traffic stops during the four day campaign, which saw 194 seatbelt charges laid, 27 for distracted driving, 29 impaired driving charges and 40 charges for stunt driving.
In addition, 1559 speeding charges were issued- the most out of any OPP Region in Ontario.
A reminder that drivers can be charged and face a fine between $240-$1,000 and two demerit points if they or any of their passengers under the age of 16 are not wearing a seatbelt or secured in a proper child car seat.
The OPP wish to thank drivers who made safety a priority for themselves, their passengers and their fellow motorists by driving responsibly.
