Constable Ryan Thomson of the Aylmer Police Service has been recognized by MADD London and area chapter as the 2023 recipient of the “Officer of the Year” award.
Cst. Thomson has been with the Aylmer Police Service since July of 2022 and during that period, has dedicated significant time and effort to pro active initiatives in the area of impaired driving apprehensions.
In 2023 he has arrested 15 persons who have been charged with 38 offences related to impaired driving by drug or alcohol and other related driving offences.
Cst. Thomson is also a qualified breathalyzer technician and a Drug Recognition Expert. His expertise in those areas assisted other officers with required evidence for court purposes to ensure successful prosecution of those who choose to drive while under the influence.
“The annual award is part of an initiative undertaken by MADD to recognize the efforts of officers who contribute significant amount of time to the prevention, apprehension and prosecution of impaired drivers” says Brad Yeo Vice president – MADD London.
