The Ontario government is proposing its municipalities enact a “use it or lose it” policies on developers, speed up the creation of student housing, and streamline approvals for standardized housing designs.
The proposals outlined in a bill that was introduced by Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Paul Calandra on Wednesday are an attempt by the province to reach its goal of building 1.5 million homes by 2031.
Calandra says the government wants to support municipalities by giving them funding and the tools needed for development.
