An Aylmer resident is the victim of a double shot of fraud and extortion.
In the process they are out almost $4,500.
They responded to a Facebook job ad and were contacted on WhatsApp by the supposed employer.
The victim was asked to send bitcoin currency and would be paid back with interest.
They were contacted again for their AppleID and phone password to arrange for payment.
Instead, intimate images were taken from the phone and the suspect demanded more money or the images would be distributed.
Aylmer Police are investigating.
Police remind the public that replying to any advertisement online carries risk.
No legitimate business or organization will require you to send money in advance with the promises of a return with interest.
