A heat warning has been issued by Environment Canada for St. Thomas and Elgin County in addition to the special weather statement that is already in place. The special weather statement that was to only be in effect until late Friday evening will now continue into Saturday evening.
The hot and humid airmass that has reached Elgin County will remain in the area until late Saturday or early Sunday morning.
The new heat warning has come into effect today due to high daytime temperatures that are expected to reach values near forty with the humidex.
On Saturday temperatures will remain near thirty with humidex values in the upper thirties, however with the passage of a cold front, cooler temperatures and lower humidity is expected for the remainder of the weekend.
You are being reminded to take caution when being or working outdoors and to drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty, while also trying your best to stay in a cool place. You are also being reminded to never leave people or pets unattended in a parked car.
