A hearing is scheduled today (Tuesday) in the case of five former members of Canada’s world junior hockey team who are accused of sexual assault.
Lawyers for Dillon Dube, Carter Hart, Michael McLeod, Cal Foote and Alex Formenton have said the players will defend themselves against the allegations and have opted for a jury trial.
All five were charged with sexual assault earlier this year in connection with an alleged sexual assault at a London hotel in 2018.
McLeod is also facing an additional charge of sexual assault for “being a party to the offence.”
The players’ lawyers previously stated in a joint written statement that they are confident the jury will be fair and impartial after hearing all the evidence and testimony.
