A new study suggests cannabis legalization led to a spike in the number of older adults visiting Ontario’s emergency rooms.
The study was published yesterday in the peer-reviewed journal JAMA Internal Medicine.
It found that the number of people 65 and older checking into ERs in Ontario for what amounted to cannabis poisoning grew sharply over an eight year period.
There was a jump right after cannabis was legalized, and another after edibles were introduced to the market.
