More than 1,400 Thames Valley District School Board students are gearing up for the annual Special Olympics competition next week.
In addition to track and field events, there are a number of games for athletes with varying abilities.
Elementary students will compete on Tuesday, June 11 and secondary students will compete on Wednesday, June 12. Rain dates are June 13 and 14.
All events take place at Western Alumni Stadium and run from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Events include:
- Wheelchair races
- Track races (50m, 80m and 200m)
- Field events such standing jump (elementary only), long jump, softball throw and shot put (secondary only)
- Special events (a variety games for athletes with varying abilities)
