The driver of a heavily damaged white pickup truck turned himself in to St. Thomas Police after he fled the scene of a crash early Saturday morning.
The vehicle struck a hydro pole in the area of Mitchell and Hincks streets, causing extensive damage not only to the truck but also the utility pole.
Following an extensive search of the area with the K-9 unit, police were unable locate the driver.
Saturday afternoon, a 33-year-old Bracebridge man approached police and was arrested.
He has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to report a collision.
The man was later released with a future court date.
