A 52-year-old St. Thomas woman has been arrested and charged following an incident downtown early Saturday morning.
Police say a concerned resident reported a woman apparently asleep at the wheel of her car at a downtown address.
Upon arrival, officers requested a breath sample from the woman, but she refused.
The 52-year-old was subsequently arrested, given a future court date, and received an administrative driver’s license suspension.
Additionally, her vehicle was impounded.
The St. Thomas Police remind that the penalty for refusing a roadside screening device is similar to that of being charged with operation in excess of 80 mgs of alcohol.
Similar penalties are incurred as well as license suspensions and impound fees.
