Elgin OPP have charged a 56-year-old London resident following a single-vehicle collision in Malahide Tuesday. Police responded just after 12:30 p.m. to the collision involving a commercial motor vehicle that was the subject of a previous traffic complaint on Belmont Road.
While speaking with the driver, the officer observed signs of impairment at which time they were taken into custody for Drug Recognition Evaluator testing.
As a result, Sean Rice of London has been charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and Careless driving.
Rice’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.
The accused is set to appear in St. Thomas court next month.
Police do note that no serious injuries were reported.
