A continued partnership between the YWCA St. Thomas Elgin, Goodwill Industries and ClothingWorks is making sure members of our community don’t go without a coat this winter.
The Winter Coat and Accessories Give Away is set to return October 11th and 12th, where residents in need can stop by to “shop” through the donations received.
myFM sat down with Melissa Kempf, Communications Manager at the YWCA, who is so excited to have their partners back on board!
With the help of Goodwill Industries and ClothingWorks, the YWCA was able to assist hundreds of people in need during the giveaway last year. Kempf hopes to do the same next week when they open up their gymnasium at 16 Mary St West for the big event.
For those unsure how the process works, Kempf notes you simply show up and take what you need!
Kempf adds that if anyone isn’t able to make it out next week, consider sending a friend or family member in your place.
If any community members wish to support the cause, Kempf says donations are still being accepted up until Tuesday, October 8th.
They are also in need of more winter time accessories, and extend the ask to local knitters and crafters who may be able to help.
Those with donations for the Winter Coat and Accessories Give Away are asked to label them as “ClothingWorks” and drop them off at Goodwill on Elm Street before the deadline.
A number of volunteers will be on site during the giveaways days next Friday and Saturday notes Kempf, should anyone need assistance.
