As we look back on the week that was, here were our top five most read stories from October 19th to 25th:
1. A 52-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested for impaired driving Sunday after attempting to avoid a RIDE program on the south side of the city. St. Thomas Police report that officers conducting the check noticed the driver had avoided the checkpoint, initiating a traffic stop as a result.

2. A St. Thomas resident has been charged after a multi-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon closed the eastbound lanes of the 401 in Thames Centre. Emergency personnel were called to a five-vehicle chain reaction collision just east of Putnam Road.

3. A 27-year-old St. Thomas resident is in hospital in serious condition after a vehicle went down the embankment at the end of Hawk Cliff Road, east of Port Stanley. The incident occurred around 6 Tuesday evening.

4. Elgin OPP are seeking the public’s help in identifying a motorist who failed to remain at the scene of a collision Thursday in Southwold. Just before 7 p.m., police responded to rear-end collision involving an ATV on First Line near Plains Road.

5. Two Central Elgin residents this week submitted nomination applications to represent the Conservative Party of Canada in the next federal election. The deadline to file nomination papers was 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 23.
