Beginning Monday, you can support the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank while getting a delicious and festive treat in return.
Tim Hortons restaurants are once again hosting a special Holiday edition of their annual Smile Cookie campaign, with 50% of the proceeds benefiting our local food bank.
During the inaugural campaign in 2023, the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank was the recipient of $15,196, thanks to the 7 Tim Hortons restaurants located in St. Thomas, owned by siblings Diane Stewart and Brian Tisdelle.
Karen McDade, Manager of Public Relations and Administration at the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank, explains that you can support the cause simply by purchasing a Holiday Smile Cookie for $1.50+ tax.
McDade notes it’s been a staggering past few years at the food bank, with numbers tripling since 2020. Adding that the cost of living seems to be the contributing factor for this increase.
And as much as non-perishable food donations are vital for their operation, McDade says these monetary funds will allow them to purchase the products they are lacking.
You can pick up a Holiday Smile Cookie- a white chocolate chip sugar cookie infused with red and green sprinkles and adorned with a hand-decorated smile- in support of the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank, November 18th through 24th.
Those in the Aylmer area can stop by one of their 2 locations, with proceeds supporting the Corner Cupboard Food Bank. The new Tim Hortons in Belmont will also support the Corner Cupboard. The Tim’s in West Lorne will be raising funds for the West Elgin Daffodil Auxiliary, with Dutton giving back to Million Dollar Smiles.
