The Elgin Historical Society invites the community to a special screening of the Hollywood classic Gold Diggers of 1933.
This iconic pre-code musical features legendary stars of the 1930s, including St. Thomas native Ned Sparks.
As a boy, Sparks played baseball with the “Wilson Bridge Bombers” near his home on Wilson Ave. After a brief stint at the University of Toronto he found his way to
the Klondike, then Broadway and eventually, Hollywood.
Gold Diggers of 1933 showcases unforgettable music, dazzling choreography, and performances that cemented its place in cinematic history.
“St. Thomas Night at the Movies” will take place on Wednesday, November 27 at 7 p.m. at the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Arts Centre.
Admission is free, with donations welcomed.
