Railway City Tourism has selected the 4 local artists that will create murals on the train boxcars outside of the Elgin County Railway Museum. The artists selected out of the nearly 50 applicants are Grayden Laing, Mediah, Jaclyn White, and Laura Woermke.
The boxcars are the first phase of Railway City Tourism’s larger street initiative for the City that will feature murals and other forms of public art.
Tourism Manager Megan Pickersgill says that the selected artists will bring differing styles of murals.
Pickersgill says that the murals will be painted during the month of August with full completion planned for the start of September. The artists will be receiving $1,000 to complete the murals and also be provided with the necessary safety equipment.
