This is the President’s Club, brought to you by Briwood Farm Market.
For Mary Lou Crowley, President and CEO of the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation, no two days are ever the same.
She first joined the team back in July 2023, making the move from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation, where she had served as President & CEO since 2017.
While speaking with Crowley about the move, she expressed her love of her new community, admitting “St. Thomas and Elgin County, is really my sweet spot. I was born and raised in a small community. My mom was a nurse in the emergency department of a community hospital and my dad was a farmer. So I feel like I’m in where I need to be. And of course, working with dedicated volunteers and a staff team that are superb.”
For over 30 years now, Crowley has held leadership roles at a number of hospital foundations, guiding and supporting teams that have raised millions of dollars for excellence in local healthcare.
And while everyday duties as President and CEO do vary, the dedication to patient care remains constant.
In being what Crowley calls “the link” between the hospital and the community, the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation is out there building relationships, ensuring that people have the opportunities to support healthcare right here in our community.
A big focus of STEGH Foundation staff is the fundraising aspect, but also ensuring those who choose to give, understand the impact of their generosity. You may see them out at community events, engaging with residents and service clubs, who continue to support the foundation.
Crowley notes “I feel privileged, as well as our whole foundation team, to be in a community where healthcare matters and for us to have the golden opportunity to provide well-being to each and every resident in St. Thomas and Elgin County.”
