A 24-year-old St. Thomas resident has been arrested following a disturbance on Elgin Street on Monday evening.
Just before 7 p.m., police responded to reports of an altercation that had spilled onto the street. Officers arrived to find multiple individuals involved and determined that a verbal argument between residents had escalated.
This resulted in property damaged and several items being thrown at the victim. A neighbor who attempted to intervene was also physically assaulted by the accused.
The 24-year-old was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a weapon.
During processing, officers discovered the accused had an outstanding warrant with the London Police Service. London police were notified and attended St. Thomas to take the individual into custody.
