The Sunshine Optimist Club of St. Thomas is celebrating their 1 year anniversary. The club is for residents of low income, mental illness or with a disability and is the first of its kind in Canada. The club has the same goal as other optimist clubs and work to serve the community.
President TenaMarie Moore says that the club started with her and one other person.
Moore says that the club is holding their first ever fundraiser on Saturday August 3rd in the form of a garage sale. Funds raised will help the group purchase shirts and name badges and also donate some funds to a service project.
The garage sale is taking place at 43537 Sparta Line in St. Thomas from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
