A 45-year-old St. Thomas man is facing a series of charges after Ontario Provincial Police responded to a reported disturbance in Central Elgin earlier this week.
Elgin OPP officers were called to an address in the municipality around 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5th, following an intimate partner dispute.
As a result of the investigation, the man has been charged with multiple Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences, including:
- Two counts of Assault with a Weapon – Spousal
- Forcible Confinement – Spousal
- Assault – Spousal
- Operation While Impaired
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
The accused was held in custody and appeared for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on Wednesday, August 6.
The OPP is not releasing the individual’s name in order to protect the identity of the victim.
