The Railway City FC Women’s team is on the verge of making history — and they’re calling on the St. Thomas community to help push them over the finish line.
In their inaugural season competing in League2 Ontario, the senior women’s squad has earned a shot at promotion to the Championship Division — just one tier below the Premier Division, the highest level of play in League1 Ontario.
Following a dominant 11-2-1 regular season, Railway City FC racked up 35 points, finishing just behind league leaders Waterloo United. The team scored 39 goals while conceding only seven, proving to be a force on both sides of the pitch.
Their efforts now come down to a single, high-stakes promotion playoff match against Cambridge United, taking place Sunday, August 10 at 4 p.m. at 1Password Park.
The two teams met twice in the regular season, with one match ending in a draw and the second going in Railway City’s favour. Cambridge heads into the playoff with an 8-5-1 record.
Sunday’s match marks the most significant moment yet for Railway City FC, and fans are encouraged to pack the stands at 1Password Park and show their support.
