Despite the rainfall we experienced Tuesday night, the St. Thomas Fire Department is alerting the community that the county-wide burn ban remains in effect.
The ban applies to all open-air and recreational burning, such as bonfires, campfires, burn barrels, and chimineas, though ULC/CSA listed propane appliances are permitted.
Residents heading outside St. Thomas-Elgin for camping are reminded to check with local fire departments about burn bans or restrictions in those areas.
Those outside of the city should report open-air fires by calling 9-1-1. In St. Thomas, only call 9-1-1 if the fire is out of control. For non-emergencies, contact 519-631-0210.
