A familiar face in St. Thomas policing has stepped into a new leadership role. Steve Bogart has officially been appointed Deputy Chief of Police, effective September 1, 2025.
Bogart, who takes over following the retirement of Deputy Chief Scott Barnes, brings nearly 28 years of experience to the role. His career has included frontline patrol, drug investigations, supervisory positions, and senior leadership responsibilities.
“It is an honour to be appointed as the next Deputy Chief. I look forward to the challenges ahead… We have a strong and capable team at STPS and we remain ready to serve amidst the often unpredictable environment that is occurring around us,” said Bogart in a statement, also thanking his family for their support.
Board Chair Dan Reith congratulated Bogart on the appointment, praising his professionalism and leadership. “We are confident that he will continue to serve the community of St. Thomas with integrity and a forward-thinking approach to modern policing.”
Bogart had served as Staff Inspector before his promotion to Deputy Chief.
