Alicia Atterbury is a full-time, full-service, award-winning real estate broker with Royal LePage Triland Realty in St. Thomas, where she has assisted buyers and sellers since 2017.
She achieved her brokerage status in 2020, and specializes in new and resale homes.
She stresses, “I love to help buyers find their new home.”
She began working with Doug Tarry Homes in 2022 because his values “align with my values and goals in so many ways.”
Atterbury continues, “They build Net Zero-Ready and Energy Star certified homes with our environment in mind and they are the ultimate members of our community, giving back at every opportunity to build our community stronger. I am incredibly fortunate to work alongside them.”
Atterbury notes, “I love working with first-time homebuyers, and it is stressful for them because they’ve never done anything like it. You know, maybe their parents have done it or a friend, but it’s always different. And especially now, it’s different even more than it was five years ago.
“Yeah, I basically help you and hold your hand, and we go from there.”
And there is plenty of truth to the old adage that real estate is all about location, location, location. Especially with young familes and schools will be a factor.
“Absolutely, we have wonderful schools in the city, and I can help you. I pretty much can tell you wherever that house is, what school district it’s in, just because that’s my job.”
Expectation, both in the size and price of a home, is a consideration Atterbury can assist home-buyers who may be pleasantly surprised at what they can consider for their first or next home.
She points to the need to sometimes broaden your horizon when home hunting.
“You know, that’s always the case with buyers where they have their heart set on, you know, either a certain area or a certain style of home. And sometimes it’s good to broaden those horizons and see what else is out there. And maybe you can stretch that dollar a little bit further if you go to a different part of town or you try a different style of home.”
It’s all part of her client-focused approach, where you treat every client with care and attention and communication is critical.
“You’re more than a transaction, you’re a neighbour and a relationship I value,” she advises.
If you’re looking to sell your home, Atterbury can assist you with full-service home preparation along with stress reduction during the downsizing process or managing a household during a sale.
Atterbury stresses she “Acts as a steady presence during uncertain times.”
Community is important to Atterbury and she is active with the Thames Talbot Land Trust, is a board member with Our Place Respite and is involved with the PTA at her children’s school.
And if you have that nagging feeling you have seen her somewhere in the past, she is a member of the Kettle Creek Players who perform pantomimes each holiday season. Last year she was the prince in their take on Cinderella.
