A 56-year-old St. Thomas man is facing numerous charges after he was caught stealing electrical wire from the Santa’s House display at the Elgin County Railway Museum.
The display, formerly in London, had just arrived at the museum.
St. Thomas Police responded to the museum early Thursday morning after reports of a theft in progress.
Ronald Walker was arrested and charged with theft and failing to comply with a probation order.
Walker had also been identified in connection with a separate incident that occurred last Monday. City police were called to investigate the report of several residential sites under construction being entered, damaged and copper wiring removed.
As a result of that investigation, Walker was additionally charged with:
- Three counts of failure to comply with probation
- Two counts of break and enter
- Theft under $5,000
In total, Walker faces seven new criminal charges.
He was released on a judicial interim release order.
