The St. Thomas Elgin Local Immigration Partnership kicked off Welcoming Week with a flag-raising Monday morning at city hall in St. Thomas.
Mayor Joe Preston stressed the importance of ensuring all residents of St. Thomas feel a true sense of belonging.
He noted, “By working together we can build prosperity, and make St. Thomas a place for people from all backgrounds to feel valued and where they choose to put down roots.”
Preston added, “I call upon the people of St. Thomas to join with communities across Canada and around the world in celebrating Welcoming Week 2025 and build a more inclusive and welcoming city for all.”
Welcoming Week runs through Sept. 21.
