St. Thomas residents are being reminded to watch for runners and temporary road closures this Sunday, September 28, as the Railway City Road Races returns for its 11th year.
Nearly 1,000 participants of all ages will be taking part in the half-marathon, 10K, and 5K events between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.
All proceeds from the event will help change futures for at-risk kids in our community through Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Thomas-Elgin.
Road impacts include:
- Centre Street closed 8:30–9:30 a.m.
- Elm Street closed from Elmina to Elgin, with no access to Pinafore Park from Elm.
- Runners will also be on Parkside Drive, the Lake Margaret Trail system, Pinafore Park, Orchard Park, and the area of Renaissance Drive and Harlequin Court.
Organizers are asking motorists to be patient, give runners the right of way, and plan alternate routes where possible.
