Next week is Small Business Week through to Oct. 25 and 94.1 myFM is celebrating entrepreneurship in St. Thomas and across Elgin county with business profiles each day.
We kick off the series with Chris Heil and his passion for written letters.
The St. Thomas business owner and his son are banking on snail mail delivering thrilling tales of romance and intrigue that will have people checking their mailbox and not their computer screen.
Chris Heil and his son Zach last month launched Once Upon A Letter, where subscribers experience the joy of receiving written letters twice a month with a unique Canadian storyline.
Or as Chris likes to say, “It’s something you’ve never heard of, but your mother will love.”
Time spent in Chilliwack, B.C. in the late 1990s with the military where he communicated back and forth with his wife via letters, was the inspiration Chris drew upon to plant the seed that would blossom into a subscription service that offers up unique, personal letters sure to inject happiness, connection and pangs of nostalgia into your everyday life.
The first series, which will run for a year, follows Edward Bennett during the Second World War.
He is a Canadian soldier who exchanges letters with his wife, Margaret Bennett, balancing love, hardship, hope, and survival.
Chris sets the time frame for the debut story now available through subscription.
Series 2 transports you to Egypt, where Arthur Alistair Finch is experiencing an Egyptian adventure.
Once Upon A Letter is perfect for individuals or couples where one or both parents are still alive, Chris stresses.
Particularly thoughtful if the recipients of a subscription reside in a nursing home or live alone.
And moving forward with the service, Chris advises the next logical target audience is nursing and retirement homes.
It’s all about rediscovering the magic of storytelling, one letter at a time.
Enjoy stepping into a world of romance, mystery and adventure that unfolds through the mail. A uniquely immersive journey delivered right to your mailbox.
