OPP is warning baseball fans to watch out for scams when buying World Series tickets.
With excitement building, police say scammers are taking advantage of major events like the World Series to trick people into buying fake tickets online.
They remind fans to be careful when purchasing from third-party websites or social media, as not all sellers are legitimate.
If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Police say buyers should only use official ticket sources and avoid anyone who cannot provide proof of purchase. Scammers often try to rush people into quick decisions.
The OPP also advises fans to use credit cards for online purchases, since many offer fraud protection. People should never pay with cryptocurrency, gift cards, cash, or bank transfers, as those payments are hard to trace.
