Another incidence of violence reported at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
City police were called to the hospital early Sunday morning when an unruly patient who had been discharged refused to leave the facility.
When officers arrived, just after 1 a.m., they were told he had brandished a knife and threatened staff.
The 29-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested without incident.
Further investigation revealed that the accused was bound by a release order stemming from a previous incident, which included conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
He was charged with:
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Fail to comply with release order
He was remanded into custody.
