The Thames Valley District School Board will be offering a High School, Here I Come! program for students who are beginning grade 9 in the fall.
The program will give students the opportunity to learn tips, hints, and skills in order to feel more comfortable and prepared for the start of the school year.
The 4 day program will run from August 19th to 22nd and will teach students study skills, literacy and numeracy learning skills, the importance of time management and organization, and will go through the realities and anxieties associated with high school. The program also helps to encourage students to get involved in extracurriculars as a way to make friends and stay active in the school community.
Program Supervisor Paul MacGregor says the goal of the program is to get all questions answered that the students may have before the first day of school.
The program is being offered at many high schools in Elgin County including Arthur Voaden Secondary School, Central Elgin Collegiate Institute, East Elgin Secondary School, Lord Dorchester Secondary School, Parkside Collegiate Institute West Elgin Secondary School.
Registration for the free program is open until Tuesday, August 13th and late registrations will not be accepted.
