A 34-year-old Orwell man described by police as a prolific offender has been arrested again after a domestic incident and multiple alleged breaches of his release conditions early Thursday morning.
Police say the accused has been on bail since 2024 for a charge of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, with a condition requiring him to wear a GPS monitoring device.
He was previously arrested by Aylmer Police in September 2025 for tampering with that device and leaving his residence, though he was later released again by the courts with another monitoring unit.
According to Aylmer Police, on November 20, 2025, the man once more tampered with and removed his GPS device, prompting the monitoring company to alert the Ontario Provincial Police. OPP officers attended his address and located the removed device, confirming he was no longer on the property.
Just after 1 a.m., Aylmer Police were dispatched to a home in town for a report of a domestic assault in progress. Investigators say the accused attempted to pry open the front door, damaging it, before entering the residence through a window. Once inside, police allege he assaulted a female victim, who called 911. The man fled on foot before officers arrived.
With assistance from the St. Thomas Police K-9 Unit, officers attempted a track, but were initially unable to locate him. A short time later, an Aylmer Police Service officer spotted the accused attempting to leave the area in a vehicle and arrested him.
He now faces several new charges, including:
- Break and Enter a Dwelling to Commit an Indictable Offence
- Assault – Spousal
- Mischief – Destroy Property
- Failure to Comply with a Release Order
- Police say the victim did not suffer injuries.
The accused did appear in court Thursday morning and has been remanded into custody.
