Fifty-three motorists are facing impaired driving charges as the first week of the 2025 West Region OPP Festive RIDE campaign is in the books.
OPP detachments across the region conducted 534 RIDE checks, resulting in 53 impaired driving charges and eight warn-range licence suspensions.
In Elgin county, five individuals were charged with impaired driving.
Province-wide, officers have carried out 1,804 RIDE checks since the campaign launched, laying 229 impaired driving charges and issuing 23 warn-range suspensions in OPP-patrolled areas.
The annual Festive RIDE initiative focuses on enforcement and education aimed at removing impaired drivers off the road during the holiday season.
This year’s campaign runs until January 1.
