St. Thomas athletes from Championship City Boxing Club made their mark at the Golden Gloves Provincial Championships held in Windsor from October 16–19.
The event drew top amateur boxing talent from across Ontario, and the local team delivered determined performances throughout the competition.
Ethan Andersen had a standout showing in the U23 50–55 kg division, winning three bouts over three days to capture the gold medal. Andersen is now the Ontario Golden Gloves Provincial Champion in the U23 50–55 kg weight class.
His victory also secures him a spot at the U17/U19/U23 National Championships, scheduled for March 18–22, 2026, at the Genesis Centre in Calgary, Alberta.
Teammates Keegan Banfic and Noah Sopoco also performed admirably, each earning bronze medals in their respective divisions. Banfic fought through two competitive bouts to secure his podium finish, while Sopoco earned his medal following a strong performance in his matchup.
Championship City Boxing Club celebrated all its athletes for their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship.
The results highlight the strength of St. Thomas’ boxing community and the ongoing development of local talent on the provincial stage.
