Actress Rachel McAdams of St. Thomas has received a major honour in Hollywood.
On Tuesday, she was awarded the 2,833rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
During the ceremony, which saw guests Domhnall Gleeson, Sam Raimi and Dylan O’Brien in attendance, McAdams delivered a heartfelt and emotional thank-you to her parents.
McAdams also reflected on her childhood dreams of becoming a movie star while growing up in the Railway City.
The ceremony was held on Hollywood Boulevard, with McAdams recognized in the Motion Pictures category.
McAdams rose to fame in 2004 with leading roles in Mean Girls and The Notebook, which made her a household name. She later earned strong praise for dramatic work in Spotlight and appeared in the Marvel hit Doctor Strange.
