St. Thomas Police are reminding drivers to clear snow and debris from their vehicles before hitting the road, after an officer laid a charge earlier Friday.
Police say the driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act after officers spotted a vehicle with its licence plate and rear window obstructed by snow.
Officers note that even light snowfall can quickly cover plates with snow, slush, and road grime, making them difficult to read during traffic stops.
Police are reminding drivers that they are responsible for ensuring licence plates, windows, and lights are clear and plainly visible before driving.
A quick wipe, notes the STPS, can help improve safety and prevent unnecessary tickets during the winter months.
