Failing to buckle has up cost a St. Thomas resident their vehicle.
City police had set up a seatbelt check lane and pulled over a motorist, but as the officer approached, the vehicle sped away.
Police began a pursuit but terminated it.
A short time later the vehicle returned but with a different driver.
The vehicle was declared unfit to drive because of new damage to the front end.
Investigation revealed the first individual, a 24-year-old city resident was a suspended driver who now faces several charges, including failing to stop and failing to wear a seatbelt.
And, being unfit to drive, their vehicle was towed away.
