The 2026 St. Thomas Polar Plunge was another splashing success on Thursday, as participants got “Freezin’ For A Reason” in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
Taking over Railway City Brewing from 4 to 5 p.m., the local event brought in participants from across the community, including members of the St. Thomas Police Service, Aylmer Police Service, Elgin County OPP, the St. Thomas Fire Department, and a dedicated Special Olympian, Joy Greevink.
myFM caught up with STPS Inspector and co-organizer, Kim Manuel, after the event, who shared her thoughts.
Since the event wrapped up, more than $8,300 has been raised locally, however Manuel shared that the donation page will stay live until April.
All proceeds from the Polar Plunge will be channeled into providing vital programming and events for Special Olympic athletes across Ontario.
Maunel added how grateful they are for the continued community support.
