Tuesday (July 30th) has been dubbed “Day-of-Action” across the Province.
Everywhere in Ontario, legal clinics and their supporters will be are taking part in a protest against cuts to the Province’s Legal Aid Clinic funding by the Ontario Government.
The Elgin-Oxford Legal Clinic will be taking part.
The funding cuts, retroactive to April 1st of this year, see an 8 % reduction which clinics say threaten service-delivery.
Particularly vulnerable to potential service reductions are low income residents and the Elgin-Oxford Legal Clinic doesn’t think this is fair.
The funding reductions are also said to threaten delivery of public legal education. Tomorrow you’re encouraged to educate yourself about the services of the Elgin-Oxford Legal Clinic by dropping by its office at 98 Centre Street in St. Thomas between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. to find out more about its services, and potential impacts threatened to come down the pipe in 2020.
