For over 60 years, the St. Thomas Kinsmen Easter Egg Hunt has drawn hundreds of families to Pinafore Park.
And this year’s event on Saturday continues the tradition that has become a generational experience.
How many Easter eggs are we talking about?
According to Matt Sharpe with the Kinsmen, it’s over 800 pounds of chocolate.
That’s enough to fill 19 bankers boxes, advises Sharpe.
The free event kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, but families are encouraged to plan ahead and arrive early cautions Sharpe.
The hunt goes rain or shine and can attract upward of 1,500 youngsters on a good day.
The chocolate eggs will be spread across three designated hunt areas based on age, explains Sharpe.
He adds that the Kinsmen appreciate the support of the community and the local sponsors, including Yarmouth Mutual Insurance, who help them pull off the event every year.
